What We Publish

Leaf & Footpath is an independent editorial magazine about British Scouting culture and accessible nature observation. We publish articles on keeping field notes, comparing seasonal changes, and discussing discoveries with family or group volunteers.

Our Sections

Field Notes (FN) covers how to record what you noticed, in whatever form suits the visit. Seasonal Comparison (SC) is about returning to the same place and reading change across visits. Shared Discoveries (SD) helps you talk about observations with family or group volunteers, without overclaiming.

Original Examples and Linked Sources

Every article includes original examples drawn from the subject itself, so you can see how a note, comparison, or conversation might work in practice. We link to the sources used for factual claims. Each illustration is labelled as an AI illustration, credited honestly to the tool that produced it.

Editorial Method

We write from cited sources rather than from invention. Where a passage depends on a source, the source is named and linked. Where we offer a practical suggestion, it stays within what the source supports.

A Reader's Role

Readers can check any passage against its cited source and keep a clear correction note if something is wrong. The contact page explains how to do that.

Independence

Leaf & Footpath is independent. The magazine reports on Scouting culture and nature observation as editorial subjects, not as a membership body.
